Naše Skomarje
Skomarje je strnjena vas, ležeča na južnem Pohorju, na nadmorski višini 944 metrov, ki se kot Sveti Lambert prvič omeni leta 1313, kot kraj Scomer pa leta 1348. Arheološke najdbe v okolici pričajo o tukajšnjem življenju v času pred našim štetjem. Župnija Skomarje je vse do leta 1787 spadala v pražupnijo svetega Martina Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu, leta 1891 pa postane samostojna. Župnišče je iz leta 1788 in danes so v njem Vodovnikova zbirka, prostor za druženje in etnološka zbirka mečkega orodja za izdelavo cokel in šikelnov – značilne lesene kritine. Cerkev svetega Lamberta je sicer omenjena že leta 1313, sedanja je iz 15. stoletja in je bila v preteklih letih obnovljena.
V kraju je tudi tipična kmečka hiša iz leta 1803, imenovana Skomarska hiša, v kateri potekajo kulturne prireditve. V nekdanji osnovni šoli, ki je delovala od 1879 do 1979, je taborniški dom. Okoli 200 prebivalcev kraja se preživlja s kmetijstvom, gozdarstvom in v novejšem času s turizmom.
Skomarje is a built-up village on Southern Pohorje, situated at an altitude of 944 meters. It was mentioned for the first time as Saint Lambert in 1313 and as Scomer in 1348. Archaeological findings show evidence of life in the area before Christ. The
Skomarje parish had belonged to the Saint Martin parish of Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu until 1787, while in 1891 it became an independent parish. The parson’s house was constructed in 1788 and nowadays contains the Vodnik collection, socializing
area and ethnological collection of agricultural tools for the production of clogs and šikelni – wooden roofing. The Saint Lambert Church was mentioned for the first time in 1313, while the current church goes back to the 15th century and was recently also restored. The village is also proud of its typical farm house from 1803 – Skomar House, where cultural
events take place. The former elementary school, which operated from 1879 to 1979, is nowadays the scouts’ home. Around 200 inhabitants of the village make a living out of agriculture, forestry and recently also tourism.
